Transylvania is a region in central Romania. It’s known for medieval towns, mountainous borders and castles like Bran Castle, a Gothic fortress associated with the legend of Dracula. The city of Brașov features Saxon walls and bastions, as well as expansive Council Square, ringed by colorful baroque buildings, the towering Gothic Black Church and cafes. Nearby Poiana Brașov is a popular ski resort.

Tour Plan


Day 1 Bucharest – Predeal

Arrival at the airport in Bucharest where you will be accompanied by your guide and go to the southern Carpathians. On the Prahova Valley in Azuga you will visit the royal champagne winery and taste a few wine varieties.

Day 2 Predeal – Gheorgheni

In the morning you will visit the “Dracula Castle” from Bran. The tower height and the castle built in the 14th century served the residents of the nearby Brasov as protection against the Ottomans. You will then continue to Brasov. City tour in the center, where you will visit the most important sights: The Black Church, the Town hall. In the afternoon you will also visit the fortified church in Harman. Arrival at the Szekely Land from the Carpathians.

Day 3 Gheorgheni – Sovata – Bistrita – Viseu

In the morning you will go to Sovata by the Bucin Pass, where you will take a walk to the Bear Lake. Sovata is a health resort, known for its salt water sources. You will then continue to Bistrita through Reghin. In the former Saxon trade city you will visit the historic city centre. The important sights here are the old trading houses and the Evangelical Church. From Bistrita you will go to Maramures.

Day 4 Viseu

Today you will travel with the historic forest train. This forest train from Viseu de Sus is the last one in Romania. The 760mm forest train passes through a huge, undeveloped area along the Hungarian-Romanian border. The stretch begins in Viseu de Sus at the lumbermill and leads in constant pitch over 43 kilometer limit up to the Ukraine border at Comanu.

Day 5 Viseu – Beclean – Ludus - Bazna

This morning you will visit Maramures. This region is the habitat of the artificial woodworking. You will travel through villages for example Dragomiresti and you will visit the Wooden Church Bogdan Voda. Through Beclean and Ludus you will arrive in Transylvania.

Day 6 Bazna – Biertan –Sighisoara- Bazna

Today it’s all about the Transylvanian Saxons. First we go to Biertan, where you will visit the biggest fortified church. Then you will visit Sighisoara. Sighisoara is the most beautiful and best preserved medieval building from this side of Europe. Here you can visit the Church on the Hill, the house where Count Dracula was born, and also the Mary Church and the Clock Tower. In the afternoon carriage ride to visit the fortified church Boian.

Day 7 Bazna – Sibiu- Bucharest

In the morning you will go to Sibiu, where you will go by tram to Rasinari. Then city tour. The buildings from the Big and Small Square, The Bruckenthal Palace and the Liar’s Bridge are just a few monuments that influence the entire city image. During the city tour you will also visit the Evangelical Parish Church. In the afternoon trip to Bucharest, dinner with folklore program at the Pescarus Restaurant.

Day 8 Bucharest - Departure

In the morning you will get to know the capital. You will visit the Patriarchal Church, the Romanian Orthodox Patriarchal residence, the Parliament Palace second largest building in the world. Then you will go to the open air Village Museum Dimitrie Gusti, where you can admire houses from all over Romania. Then transfer to the airport, fare well from the guide and return flight.
